Bill's "Studio Stuff!"  morfing guitars

Just In Time For Christmas

The big news is that we just put the finishing touches on "Christmas Greetings!" The idea of releasing a Christmas CD this year was more of a last minute dare than a decision, but once made everyone pulled together to put out a truly great holiday classic. We literally threw together a song list of several of our favorite seasonal tunes, then layed down the instrumental tracks with a minimum of over dubbing.

Expanding the Rockets line up by drawing Darcy and Sally from the "Good News" Gospel String Band to help with back-up vocals gave the "Rockets" a whole new sound on this recording. The "Rockets" perform with their usual professionalism and Bill's acoustic guitar with David taking the lead on most songs on his "Big Fat Gibson" electric is very reminiscent of the holiday music of the '40's and '50's. After all, this is what we do best!

Despite conflicting schedules over the Thanksgiving weekend the project was finished in about three weeks, just in time for the "Good News" Christmas concert at Woodburn Christian church on December 5th. Go to our music page to order your copy of "Christmas Greetings!"

Songs For Lovers

"Songs For Lovers" is the working title to the next "Rockets" CD. We have so much material to choose from that we simply must make another CD of some of our favorite '50's Rock and Do-Wop hits.

You can look forward to hearing hits like ... "Sea Cruise," "Runaround Sue," "Hot Dog," "Twilight Time," "It's All In the Game," "Get A Job," "Hello Mary Lou," and other great songs from the past. We'll get back into the studio in January and have this one ready by the spring of '10.

"Billy & the Rockets" play regularly at the Woodburn Senior Estates Clubhouse, and the Salem Elks Club. Both are open to the public, and encourage dancing and a good time. Smoking is prohibited and we usually start early enough to get you home at a decent hour. So, why not come out and enjoy some live music and dancing to one of the Northwest's most popular bands ... Billy & the Rockets. Take a look at our "Where's Bill" page for a complete schedule of upcoming programs.

What? Not in the mood for dancing? Just want to sit and listen to some fine music over a glass of wine? Then may I suggest The Oregon Garden Resort in Silverton ... a beautiful setting and listening friendly lounge, coupled with a gourmet restaurant make this one of Oregon's best kept secrets.
